JOB SUMMARY
To perform systems and network administration, provide technical support, and assist in the technical training of all staff
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities include:
- Administering the server, network and telecommunications infrastructure in the data centre (computer room) by performing system administration duties on UNIX/Linux, Windows Server 2019/2022 Nutanix, CISCO/Fortinet and Avaya-based equipment in order to satisfy organisational requirements for timely, effective and efficient collection, processing, storing, and dissemination of information to the Bank’s staff and clients
- Providing technical support for the distributed network services, server applications, desktop computing with back-office applications, remote-access (VPN) services, and specialised telecommunication related services to ensure the continuous availability of systems to internal and external users
- Conducting research into and evaluating emerging technologies for recommendation and eventual integration into the Bank’s infrastructure for the purpose of enhancing the IT environment to improve upon the processes charged by various sections of the Bank
- Coordinating the testing, configuration and installation of new and upgraded versions of computer equipment, operating systems, and application/utility software as dictated by manufacturer recommendations, organisational policies or requirements, security threats, and the usual wear and tear associated with IT assets
- Liaising with all users at all levels in responding to queries and ensuring that services are adequately and expeditiously carried out to the users’ satisfaction based on the expectations of business owners from the MIS Department
- Assisting in the provision of training interventions by providing training, technical expertise, and general guidance in the operation of various software applications, in conjunction with providing helpdesk service to the various internal and external clients on their requests for technical assistance on software or connectivity issues
- Maintaining responsibility for the administration of the Hotsite operation by developing, testing, and continuously assessing business continuity contingency plans for a selected subset of the more critical business processes
- Performing continual system monitoring and maintenance to maintain the integrity, security, and availability of information by examining system and user behavior, reviewing system logs, and taking the necessary actions in a variety of areas, including information security, system and network performances, and data management resources. Performing daily data backups of all information storage systems and managing their recovery when requested by the business/information owners is an essential part of this activity.
- Contribute to team effort by performing any other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an IT related field and three years’ relevant experience and certification in at least one operating system, e.g. CNE, CCNA, M365, Windows Server Administration, UNIX/Linux
OR
- A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or an IT related field and a minimum of one year’s relevant experience and certification in at least one operating system, e.g. CNE, CCNA, M365, Windows Server Administration, UNIX/Linux
- Formal training in supervisory management
