Supply Chain Superintendent TT

As the Supply Chain Superintendent for this growing, dynamic company, your primary objectives are to:

  • Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the company’s supply chain operations, including procurement, contracts management, logistics, and materials management.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize supply chain performance, drive operational excellence, and align departmental objectives with corporate goals.
  • Responsible for sustaining a high-performing team, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards, and fostering collaboration across departments and external stakeholders to deliver value, efficiency, and reliability throughout the supply chain.

Principal Accountabilities

Procurement Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire Supply Chain process; procurement and tenders, contract administration, inbound logistics, customs clearance, expediting, supplier performance management, materials management, and inventory control, to maximize efficiencies across the supply chain ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and workflows that introduce continuous process improvements, strengthen governance and compliance, and identify and close operational gaps in the supply chain.
  • Implement strategic sourcing of suppliers, contractor prequalification and selection, and ongoing vendor performance management. Ensure that quality suppliers are identified to foster long-term, mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
  • Develop and/or review Contracts, Master Services Agreements, Tender Package Documents, Requisition for Quotations, and Purchase Orders for goods and services.
  • Identify and implement relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and manage and monitor these KPIs to identify trends and ensure supply chain effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Work with requesting departments to forecast demand and develop procurement plans that can ensure the availability of the goods and/or services to be procured to maintain continuous business operation.
  • Provide Requestors with timely feedback on the delivery of incoming goods/materials and expedite late deliveries as necessary.  Ensure effective lines of communication between the Requestors of goods and services and the SCM department.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers and contractors to secure optimal commercial terms while fostering long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Manage underperforming suppliers by proactively addressing conflicts and issues caused by non-compliance with contractual obligations. Hold meetings with suppliers and identify/track improvement opportunities to enable early detection and resolution of potential disputes.
  • Actively participates in Tender Committee meetings, contributing to discussions and decision-making, to identify the preferred awardee while adhering to the governance of the overall procurement process.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and value creation initiatives without compromising on quality, safety, or delivery timelines.

 

Materials Management Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute materials management strategies, including inventory optimization, demand forecasting, and materials requirements planning (MRP) for both operational (MRO) and project (CAPEX) needs.
  • Manage the warehouse operations as it relates to receipt and issuing of materials, non-conformance management, HSSE, shipping and handling, stock accuracy and availability, material preservation, and overall inventory management.
  • Develop and implement robust inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels, obsolescence, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stock-outs of critical items.
  • Investigates and identifies root causes resulting from material shortages and implements action plans to prevent their recurrence.  
  • Conduct at least one complete inventory stock count per year and ensure accuracy is within the company’s defined standards. 
  • Develop material preservation strategies, thereby ensuring that inventories are maintained and stored in conditions that will prolong their useful life.
  • Oversee initiatives to identify and manage surplus and obsolete materials and develop strategies to reduce and or dispose. 
  • Develop strategies to ensure the warehouse is clean, orderly, and safe while managing waste, chemicals, and hazardous materials according to protocol.
  • Manage the layout and organization of the warehouse and laydown yards to maximize space utilization, improve workflow, and ensure a safe working environment.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and decision makers to share information, assign priorities, and resolve issues, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives, values, and code of ethics.
  • Promote and maintain an environment of continuous learning by training, mentoring, and coaching employees toward higher performance levels, ensuring ongoing development and skill enhancement in alignment with organizational needs.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior management on supply chain risks, opportunities, and performance outcomes.
  • Oversee the procurement and warehouse modules of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to ensure proper configuration and optimal use for maximizing benefits to Supply Chain (SC) operations.
  • Lead internal audits to ensure compliance with supply chain processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and ensure the timely creation of operational reports to identify actionable insights and performance reports to support supply chain transparency and strategic decision-making.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the supply chain budget and financial forecasts, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with organizational financial objectives.
  • Performs duties as an “on-call” member of the Incident Command Team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supply chain staff to build a high-performing team aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Ensure the efficient use of all available resources in the execution of supply chain activities.
  • Conduct manpower planning to maintain adequate staffing levels during both normal and emergency conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with all ISO policies and procedures.
  • Fully understand the company HSSE policy, procedures, regulations and objectives. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement by coaching employees to high standards of safety excellence and ensuring compliance with all HSE policies.
  • Performs all other related job functions as required.

Education / Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field from a recognized university.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply certification (Advanced Diploma and above or equivalent certification).
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in the Energy Industry with at least seven (7) years at a supervisory level with proven experience in process plant operation, commissioning and turnaround management.
  • Experience in materials management, tendering, and procurement is required.
