What is the opportunity?

In this role the Senior Manager, Balance Sheet & Liquidity Risk (BSLR) will be responsible for leading, maintaining and enhancing robust risk management framework for RBC Caribbean Banking in line with Enterprise established policies and procedures. Key emphasis will be on review, challenge and oversight through effective collaboration with Corporate Treasury-Caribbean and Functional partners, including the Global BSLR team, Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk and Finance.

  • Provide independent regional oversight for IRRBB and Liquidity Risk management, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and suitable best practices
  • Identify documents that should be reviewed prior to 1st Line of Defence presentation to committees, and update or request updates to policies, standards, or procedures as required to ensure proper governance sequencing is in place
  • Independently review methodologies, models, limits, parameters, and assumptions used for IRRBB and Liquidity Risk measurement, including stress testing.
  • Escalate limit excesses as per established protocols and engage other teams in 1st Line of Defence or 2nd Line of Defence as necessary on any risk issues.
  • Produce presentations and communications that accurately summarize BSLR concerns and conditions of approvals and present in various committees both on a Local and Global level.
  • Keep up to date on new and amended regulations and be able to summarize and articulate any concerns on behalf of BSLR.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders to ensure an effective and collaborative work environment.
  • Policy Manager for BSLR Policy Documents (inclusive of Policies, Frameworks, Standards and Standing Orders)
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date library of documents for BLSR including approved local Policy Documents, assumptions and regulatory guidance
  • Track BSLR’s body of work inclusive of upcoming committees and package dates, regulatory discussions and submissions, policy document refresh due dates, audit point action plan due dates and all similar events
  • Assist Director, BSLR UK, Europe & Caribbean on key projects and deliverables

Must-have

  • Graduate or post-graduate/professional designation
  • Minimum seven (7) years in Financial Services Industry, three to five (3-5) of which must be at managerial level
  • Risk management experience obtained in a financial institution or other comparable environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Deep understanding of RBC’s businesses in the Caribbean
  • Deep understanding of IRRBB, Liquidity and Funding Risk
