What is the opportunity?

The Software Developer role exists to support the development, maintenance, and optimization of RBC Caribbean Point Of Sale and Card Issuing Channels which are critical components of the bank's transaction processing ecosystem. This role ensures operational effectiveness by delivering reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions, contributing to revenue generation, cost efficiency, and enhanced customer satisfaction. By proactively addressing business and system needs, the Software Developer minimizes downtime, ensures compliance with industry standards, and drives continuous innovation in customer-facing digital services.

What will you do?

  • Design, develop, and enhance software solutions for RBC Caribbean Point Of Sale and Card Issuing Channels
  • This includes writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and tools
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to gather and understand requirements and translate them into functional software solutions
  • Ensure all development adheres to RBC's coding standards, compliance requirements, and security best practices
  • Provide production support for applications, ensuring swift resolution of issues to minimize downtime
  • Investigate and resolve software defects, performance issues, and other technical challenges reported by users
  • Offer off-hours support when necessary to maintain business continuity and operational reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement long-term fixes and prevent recurring issues
  • Provide consulting services for new initiatives, ranging from small enhancements to large-scale projects. Assess, research, and analyze business and technical requirements to explore alternative solutions
  • Recommend technology designs that align with sponsor needs, project lifecycle (PLC) deliverables, and RBC’s strategic direction
  • Ensure proposed solutions account for component reusability, data sharing, and security requirements. Prepare and present proposals to senior management as needed
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Project Managers, QA teams, and other IT professionals, to ensure successful project delivery

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree or College diploma or equivalent work experience (2-5 years)
  • C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, DB2, API integration, Debugging, Point Of Sale architecture
  • Point Of Sale systems, Payment Processing, Retail/Finance Workflows
  • Vendor collaboration, configuration, issue resolution
  • Database Skills: SQL query writing, performance optimization, stored procedures
  • Communication, problem-solving, adaptability
