General Accountability
The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing assets in assigned portfolios to generate superior risk adjusted returns and constructing and implementing portfolios in line with relevant legislation, prospectus, policies and tactical asset allocation strategies to generate superior risk adjusted returns.
Key Responsibilities
Implement tactical asset allocation strategies for assigned portfolios.
· Developing and implementing sub-strategies including Country, Sector, Duration and Credit Quality strategies to support the tactical asset allocation strategy.
· Rebalancing portfolio each quarter to align with tactical asset allocation strategy.
Security selection.
· Searching the investment universe (including Bloomberg, brokers’ lists, analysts’ recommendations) to identify equity and/or fixed income opportunities within investment criteria set in the prospectus, Investment Policy Statement, strategy documents and guiding legislation.
· Preparing recommendations to buy/sell/hold securities.
Investment execution.
· Negotiating terms and conditions of trade and place orders for approved securities with brokers/ business partners
· Following up with the Trust Services Department on settlement of trades
· Entering investment transactions in SAP or other provided IT platform.
Portfolio monitoring.
· Monitoring Portfolio returns attribution versus benchmark performance and preparing Investment Performance Reports for assigned funds.
· Reviewing and verifying Investment Performance Reports prepared by support staff.
· Conducting reviews and making recommendations in respect of securities held by portfolio
· Monitoring asset class, sector and geographic allocation versus target allocations and rebalance where necessary.
· Maintaining compliance with prospectus, Investment Policy Statement, guiding legislation and internal risk limits.
· Attending annual general meetings, bondholder meetings, investor briefings and site visits.
· Assisting in the preparation of unit holder letters and fund performance reports for annual and interim reports.
Supervision, Training & Development of Portfolio Managers, Investment Analysts and Investment Assistants.
· Providing guidance, counseling coaching and mentoring.
· Ensuring adherence to the Corporation’s policies and procedures
· Identifying and making recommendations for the development of support staff with respect to technical, attitudinal and behavioral skills.
Participate in selling the products and services of the Corporation.
· Providing features and benefits of the corporation’s products & services and recommending products to meet their stated financial goals, to existing and potential customers.
· Referring customers to CSRs/Supervisor to complete transaction.
