Manager, Project BB

Purpose of Role:
Effectively manages large Technical Projects covering all the domains of change that may impact several functional areas.  Influences and ensures the technical solution is sufficient to attain the business objectives stated and will have flexibility to maintain business and technology growth.  Ensures that the solution adheres to security, technology, software development lifecyle and enterprise architecture best practices and successfully negotiates the FirstCaribbean Risk Management Assurance process. Demonstrates a strong understanding of Technology’s strategy(s) and numerous operating environments, develops and manages work plans carefully coordinating and integrating resources and stakeholders to achieve the required business results.  Effectively manages a team that is ultimately accountable for project dependencies, issues, budget, delivery and change management while ensuring that resources are effectively utilised and that all of this is successfully implemented in a timely and cost effect manner, with as minimal disruption to the business as is possible.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for the successful execution / implementation of Technology Projects ensuring a coherent, comprehensive approach to the management of changes in order to minimize duplication of efforts and maximize the effectiveness of solutions. 
  • Completes this by taking responsibility for planning the project execution and deployment of large and complex technology infrastructure projects ensuring effective:

  • Budget Management
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Issue and Risk assessment and  management
  • Adhering to Change Management policy and processes
  • Quality assurance
  • Adherence to Enterprise Architecture standards
  • Adherence to Enterprise Security standards
  • Constructs Business cases.
  • Identifies, defines and implements a tracking mechanism for the benefits of the investment.
  • Develops RFIs and  RFPs, as required.
  • Endorses timely and appropriate transfer of responsibility of the initiative to BAU/business line for materialising projected benefits and implementing, embedding and sustaining the change.
  • Adheres to all technology and project standards and ensuring adherence across the project team.
  • Provides Input to and oversees the solution architecture to assure alignment with business objectives.
  • Plans and leads the production deployment and post deployment warranty support to ensure successful change management.
  • Leads a diverse project team, in multiple locations, with multiple accountabilities, ensuring that all project deliverables are achieved in a cohesive, timely and cost effective manner. Identifying coaching and motivational needs, ensuring PPP are completed in a timely and effective manner and providing coaching, motivational and mentoring to all team members, as required.

  • A Technology practioner.  Must have technical speciality, e.g. Database Centre Management, Telecommunications, Enterprise Architecture, Software Development

Experience Required:
  • Managed and specialised in one of the following: software engineer, Development solution architecture, Network and Comms engineer, systems engineer, or eBanking, data centres
  • 5 to10 years experience managing large and complex technical projects with allocated budgets (Technology PM - Project budget up to US$2m & < 35 team. Senior Technology PM – Project budget over >US$2m and team >35. With a proven track record of successful delivery.
  • Ability to effectively deal with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as with vendors and consultants
  • Well-developed influential skills sufficient to resolve distinct differences of opinion or approach; significantly promote and/or negotiate on the Bank’s behalf.
  • Well-developed writing skills to prepare material where interpretation analysis, assessment and/or creativity requiring the knowledgeable use of terminology and precise articulation of ideas or opinions is necessary to effectively communicate
  • Developed management/leadership skills sufficient to lead/motivate and develop staff
  • Proven leadership – to lead, motivate and develop staff located throughout the region.
  • Proven ability to respond quickly to a wide range of situations
  • Consistent demonstration of sound judgement and sound recommendations and solutions.
