Purpose of the Role:
The Audit Manager plans engagements, manages assigned audits, and performs audit evaluation and testing work on functional and regional audits with the objective of supporting an independent assessment of the level of control over risk. The incumbent identifies and prioritises risk and control issues, makes recommendations for improvement of controls / processes and discusses and agrees issues identified with unit management. The Manager is an ‘Audit Lead’ or supports the Senior Audit Manager or Portfolio Director in planning, leading and reporting the assignment, and acts as second in charge where required. The scope of work generally includes audits and ad hoc assignments related to Personal & Business Banking, Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Private Wealth and Anti-Money Laundering.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manages (and may lead on) audits and assignments, including the completion of planning, execution and reporting, discussing control issues or process improvement deliverables with business owners or stakeholders and evaluating policies, central bank and regulatory guidelines in the region and provides effective leadership and coaching of team (if assigned as Lead) to ensure that the work is completed in line with audit methodology and standards and within defined timelines.
- Develops & maintains subject matter expertise and awareness of business changes, maintaining knowledge about key business risk areas and emerging themes in support of the Portfolio Director and acts as key relationship contact, building relationships with the business, attending and participating in meetings as requested to acquire and maintain knowledge and expertise to keep abreast of changes, improvements and audit methodologies.
- Maintains & adheres to quality standards in executing audit methodology to ensure that assigned audits executed within department standards / methodology and global IIA standards.
- Produces risk assessments for business units, functions or auditable entities to support the completion of annual and engagement of risk assessments within delivery timelines, across the business.
- Develops & presents concise oral and visual presentations to key stakeholders, including management, and regulators to build awareness of process improvements, emerging risk and areas of weakness.
Knowledge / Experience:
- Over 3 years’ experience / knowledge of audit / fraud / risk management, process optimization and control issues.
- Proficiency in auditing or investigative techniques.
- Industry experience at management level.
- Experience in leading audit assignments and relationships with auditees.
- Experience in data analysis and visualizations (Tableau, Alteryx,)
- Experience in continuous auditing techniques
- General knowledge of the business / banking industry including regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of financial management and accounting issues.
- Maintain continuous professional education.
- Business knowledge of the Bank’s mission and key functions / issues.
- Maintain knowledge of IIA and other relevant standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Full professional qualification ACIB, ACCA, CPA, CIA, IIA, CFE with at least 1-2 years post qualification experience.
- Certification in data analysis and visualizations (Tableau, Alteryx,) would be an asset.
