Electronic Security Technician TT

JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical systems support to the Network on CCTV AHD and IP based systems, Access Control, Data/Video Communications, Internet Set-up Smart Alarm Systems and other structured wiring for all video and data communications. He/she will also be responsible for technical support services which includes installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing security end devices and providing technical expertise regarding optimal use of the systems. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITIES

  • Installs, configures, troubleshoots and provides technical support for all DVR’s, HVR’s, NVR’s, Access Control, Smart Alarms, Smart Devices, Intercoms, Internet devices (router, switches, modems), and other hardware material and devices used by the clients.
  • Services, repairs, troubleshoots and detect access control equipment and IP based video security systems at client locations including but no limited to:
    • Electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary door devices, IP and analog HD cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless devices, intercoms, smart alarms and other IT based systems used by the Bank.
    • Hardware material installation where needed (trunking, conduit, PVC boxes)
  • Troubleshoots system installations in such a manner as to identify issues and to apply the most effective and efficient resolution.  Identifies and repairs physical security systems as required to ensure operability and compliance with any applicable building code.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics, and related document for their use in low voltage applications.
  • Make recommendations to users upon request on appropriate hardware configurations based on system compatibility needs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Escalates to the person in charge of service delivery any potential situations that may result in diminished performance and/or failure of end user equipment/communications.
  • Works with external contractors and internal departments for equipment installations and relocations within the Network.
  • Provides advice and technical support at locations during infrastructure improvements in relation to security technology to ensure continuation of operations with minimum down time.
  • Reviews incident/service requests assigned while ensuring that they are addressed., updated and completed in a timely manner within SLA’s, including escalation of any undue delays to persons in charge.
  • Demonstrates the use and features of the various systems, devices and applications on the various platforms together with minor troubleshooting techniques to assist with problem resolution.
  • Ensures that information relating to the equipment inventory is documented and forwarded to FC personnel in charge.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Engages in marketing of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the Management of the unit

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Candidate must possess three (3) GCE O’Levels Grades A, B and C or CXC O’Levels (General Proficiency) Grades I, II or III of which one must be English Language
  • Certificate in Electronic Access Control, Alarm systems & Surveillance Systems or Certificate in CCTV, Alarms & Security systems or any other related Certificate from a reputable University.
  • Candidate must also possess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience installing CCTV and Access Control Security Systems and a minimum of one (1) year experience in data communications as a technician or any related field, with exposure to a wide variety of security, IT communications equipment, protocols and transmission media.
  • Valid T&T Driver’s License Class 3 with at least 8 years’ driving experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment and CCTV testing and IT networking testing devices.
  • Knowledge of CAT 5 and CAT 6 Cabling
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, oral and written communication skills, time management skills and knowledge of the Group’s, Products and Services
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, research, negotiating, problem solving skills, a professional deportment and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, use initiative, work independently and exercise sound judgment and use complex documents and forms
