As the Director of Airport Planning & Engineering, you are responsible for the overall asset management and capital planning program for all airport infrastructure and buildings. This includes managing and updating the long-term Master Plan, maintenance programs, multi-year CAPEX programs, and planning and control over the department’s OPEX budget. You will ensure adequate project management of all new construction, maintenance, and replacement projects, while aligning development and maintenance activities with international standards and AAA N.V.’s strategic vision.
Main responsibilities include:
- Leading the reporting units, including the planning, design coordination, tendering, awarding, and project management.
- Developing and implementing maintenance strategies, including annual and multi-annual maintenance planning in compliance with (inter)national standards and the Aerodrome Manual.
- Overseeing quality control of completed projects and services from external parties.
- Ensuring integration of new assets into operations and maintenance programs, including quality verification and staff readiness.
- Implementing the airport’s fire suppression strategy.
- Preparing, developing, implementing, and evaluating policies of reporting units and coordinating airport development processes.
- Advising management on operational development and major investments and projects.
- Providing multi-year investment plans, annual plans, and budgets aligned with AAA’s business plan, and translating the objectives and policy issues in the area of airport development, investment and projects into starting points for the execution of maintenance work.
- Leading innovation initiatives to future-proof airport infrastructure.
- Ensuring compliance with ICAO Annexes, AUA-AGA, OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant standards.
- Managing and motivating your team through assessments, performance reviews, training, and development plans.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent knowledge.
- Minimum 10 years leading maintenance and project teams, multi-year CAPEX planning, and facility master planning.
- Familiarity with international airport standards and regulations (ICAO, OSHA, NFPA).
- You are a strategic thinker, result-oriented, customer-focused, have strong managerial and analytical skills, and financial and business acumen.
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written); Spanish and Papiamento are desirable.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and CMMS systems.
