We can differentiate two common types of sales, namely:
► B2B (Business to Business): focuses on the turnover from one business to another of either products (such as parts in the case of the car industry) or services (such as marketing or advertising).
► B2C (Business to Customer): transactions conducted directly between company and consumer.
In both cases there is the traditional representative-manager-director path. But with the latest outlook on sales, matching marketing in with sales bids numerous advancement tracks, resulting in a win-win situation for both employee and employer.
There are countless job possibilities for persons interested in pursuing a career in sales. To name a few of the higher paying functions: real estate brokers, sales engineers, security-, commodity- and financial services, sales agents, sales representatives for wholesalers and manufacturers of technical and scientific products, first-line supervisors of non-retail sales workers. Some lower paying jobs in this field are: cashiers and retail professionals.
