The shortlisting process takes approximately 2 weeks from the closing date. If you are successful you will be contacted by OlassJobs, or the employer, to invite you to an interview or assessment centre, dependent on the vacancy type.
Interviews will generally take place at the prison where the vacancy you have applied for is based. Assessment centres may take place at external venues.
Do’s and Dont’s of Attending an Interview at a Prison
We appreciate that for some candidates the day that they attend an interview for an Offender Learning role may be the first time that they have visited a prison.
Due to the secure nature of the prison environment, there are a number of rules and regulations that you may need to be aware of:
What you must provide before hand
What you must bring on the day
What you cannot bring inside the prison
Lockers are provided should you need to leave any of your personal belongings at the main prison gate.
Interview Resources/Materials
If you are interviewing for a teaching role, you may be asked to prepare a lesson and provide any relevant materials required, along with an accompanying lesson plan. Please use paper based resources only. The prisons cannot support candidate’s use of laptops, disks or USB sticks.
