Systems Business Analyst

SUMMARY

Reporting the to the Senior Systems Business Analyst, the Junior Systems Business Analyst (Jr. BA) will focus on, but not limited, to understanding the deep interconnectedness between the business units and the supporting systems helping both in their evolution to meet the rapidly changing environment and work with internal stakeholders, user groups, technical systems groups, solution providers, and support groups to ensure that the solutions support the business and operational requirements.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interfacing with business users to assist in the gathering and definition of requirements, documentation, design, testing, and the implementation of software solutions
  • Assist in the preparation of requirements definition documents and identification of methods to improve, modify, or automate current processes
  • Assist in the identification of solutions to address business objectives/challenges
  • Assist in providing on-going support to functional teams beyond implementation
  • Assist in facilitating user training for applications being implemented or changed
  • Assist in the definition of Software Requirements Specifications, decomposition of high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements, definition of quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other non-functional requirements
  • Document business processes being automated by IS applications with specific focus on workflows, information flow, triggers, input and output and controls for assigned projects
  • Assist with the maintenance of Systems’ project schedule for assigned projects
  • Assist in the proactive identification and reporting of risks, issues and dependencies for Systems deliverables for assigned projects
  • Define and execute test plans and scripts for System and User Acceptance Testing
  • Identify and prepare test data for System and User Acceptance Testing
  • Assist in the management of System and User Acceptance Testing activities including, execution, planning, and issue resolution
  • Communicate with Clients to obtain information as part of requirements analysis or to communicate solutions as necessary within the scope of assigned projects.
  • Adhere to the Systems’ processes, procedures and standards as documented in the Change Management and Quality Assurance Policies and/or communicated via other written form.
  • Recommend software improvements
  • Assist with the co-ordination of post-implementation reviews
  • Assist in the management of System and User Acceptance Test environments
  • Assist in the development of analysis and quality assurance document templates
  • Promote the JMMB’s philosophy of the Vision of Love and its unique culture

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Three (3+) years of experience in similar position, preferably in a financial institution
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of presentation programs and equipment would be an asset
  • Training in systems analysis and design techniques
  • Familiarity with financial sector instruments, laws, regulations, ethics and terminology.
  • Experience working with MSSQL databases and writing SQL queries
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of regulatory, and reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • The ability to influence and work closely with stakeholders and spearhead initiatives
  • Knowledge and/or experience working on Agile teams would be an asset
  • Competency in Microsoft Office suite of products
