The Supervisory Council of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) is tasked with the supervision of the Board of Directors (BOD) and general operations associated with the hospital. The Supervisory Council advises and assists the BOD in accordance to its articles of association, law and the Corporate Governance Code, in the interest of the hospital, its stakeholders and community.

Your Profile:

The Supervisory Council is looking for a strong overseer with relevant work experience in Strategy and Policy in Healthcare, or alternatively Economic/Business Administration. A member who can contribute to the further development of SMMC as the general hospital for the population of St. Maarten and surrounding islands, providing quality care close to home.

Additional Requirements:

• Experience in a position at a strategic level, preferably as a director and/or supervisor;
• Experience with operational management and business processes at a strategic level in complex organizations, in areas such as medical, ICT, logistics, HRM or financial-economic processes;
• Insight, interest and analytical ability to be persuasive and make critical decisions in a professional organisation;
• Knowledge of corporate governance policies and principles;
• Interpersonal competencies to establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders;
• Experience and ability to distinguish between core and minor issues.

You cannot be considered if:

• You are a civil servant (Foundation statutes have Civil Servants excluded from being appointed);
• You have a business interest in the operations of SMMC and/or construction of the St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH).
