Supervisor Data Center I JM

Overall Objective and Purpose

This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily activities of the MIS/LAN Administrator and the Computer Operations Control Room personnel to ensure efficiency, data integrity, and system performance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the Data center operates in a continuous and trouble-free manner. Troubleshoots problems through the local personnel.
  • Coordinates,schedules, direct work and evaluates the operational performance of the team.
  • Assists in revising or establishing new systems to improve productivity and operational efficiency. Develops operational procedures and control mechanisms to improve operations and reduce operational errors.
  • Monitors quality assurance and security of data.
  • Monitors, tracks, and manages the configuration, accessing the delivery process of software changes for the customer Verifies and analyzes the accuracy and quality of the hardware and software products through maintenance, attention to detail, and work environment. Provides recommendations to the manager for systems needs and all external and internal factors related to the control room.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates the staff with direct responsibility Monitors hardware equipment for continuous and trouble-free operations. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and implements expedient recovery to minimize financial penalties.
  • Coordinates and conducts testing of new software, reports result to management, and implements upon approval. Recommends enhancement to system, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ensures all performance plans, memos, and reports are distributed, understood, utilized, and available to all operators.
  • Assumes responsibility for the operations center during non-business hours.
  • Monitors site security and ensure safety procedures are maintained.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in developing and preparing budget and operational plans.
  • Coordinates maintenance and repair of computer hardware, communications hardware, hotline hardware and environmental support equipment.
  • Remains on-call to ensure immediate response to emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or the equivalent plus two to four years of related work or equivalent experience. 
  • Incumbent must have advanced leadership skills as well as well-developed interpersonal and written skills. He/she must also show evidence of good team skills as well as the ability to multi-task and be willing to travel on an "as needed" basis. 
  • Experience at supervisory and LAN/MIS Administration will be an asset.
  • Experience in project organization would be an asset.
