Shorebase Operations Technician TT

National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (National Energy) is a wholly owned subsidiary of The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC), with a mandate to conceptualize, promote, facilitate, and develop sustainable energy-based industries locally and internationally.

 

This position reports to the Operations Supervisor and is responsible for supporting the efficient administration, operation, and development of the shore base facilities at the Port of Galeota, ensuring safe and effective operations.

 

Key Functions:

 

 

  • Inspects and monitors port, marine, marshalling yard and staging area operations and maintenance of all facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with approved procedures, guidelines, codes and regulations.

  • Prepares and submits reports on marine operations, including ship movements, dock occupancy, marine services rendered, and marshalling yard operations as required.

  • Reviews and verifies SAP orders for accuracy prior to release on the system for further action.

  • Reviews vessel documents submitted for berthing.

  • Assists in the preparation of reports on marine operations, including ship movements, dock occupancy, marine services rendered, and marshalling yard operations as required.

  • Ensures that all users comply with the Port Rules and Safety Regulations at the Port of Galeota as well as the various international statutory bodies and regulations e.g. OSHA, IMO and LLOYDS.

  • Ensures that all vessels berthing at the Port of Galeota conform to the ISPS Code and Standards.

  • Provides information as required to assist in budgeting and management of the operations at the Port.

  • Monitors inventory to ensure that all spares are available to optimize performance and minimize downtime.

  • Reports all incidents and accidents to relevant personnel at the Port of Galeota.

 

 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

 

  • A Diploma in Maritime Operations

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a related position

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:

 

  • Knowledge of Port and Marine operations, shipping operations, plant and machinery operations.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Vessel Spares and Equipment.

  • Ability to apply laws and regulations for compliance.

  • Ability to develop ways to continuously improve external and internal customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to observe and maintain confidentiality..

  • Effective problem-solving, time management, planning and organisational skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal)

  • Proficient in Office 365 applications
