Service Center Technician - Automotive Art

Delisle Walwyn Group of Companies is seeking an experienced and hardworking individual to fill the position of Service Center Technician for their Automotive Art Department in St. Kitts. This position will report directly to the Department’s Operations Supervisor.

Job Summary:

To provide quality consultative service to all customers entering the store. This includes prompt recognition and assistance with customers, providing product advice and soliciting sales through use of approved selling techniques as outlined in franchise procedures. Also responsible for ensuring that store housekeeping and merchandising of products is maintained to franchise standards.  Responsible for installing, repairing and servicing tires, wheels and/or batteries on customers vehicles, as assigned by Retail Team Leader, according to established procedures and practices in a prompt, professional manner.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provide highest standard of courteous service to each customer.
  • Acknowledge and recognize customers in a friendly manner as they enter the store.
  • Offer assistance to customers in locating items and provide consultative advice on items.
  • Solicit additional sales by “suggestive”, “related item”, “substitute” or “up-selling” techniques as appropriate.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the store area, shelves and products assigned are clean and well merchandised per franchise standards at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned product sections are well stocked at all times.
  • Acquiring and maintaining thorough product knowledge of items in section of primary responsibility and general knowledge of all items in the store.
  • Responsible for identifying and notifying supervisor of items that customers requested and were not in stock.
  • Perform vehicle inspection on completion of job to (a) verify that all work requested has been completed satisfactory, (b) confirm that vehicle wheel tool fits new rims, (d) vehicle is clear and free of equipment or obstructions to leave bay.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of tire repair, tire mounting and dismounting, wheel balancing techniques and mechanical procedures.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of battery applications, testing and installation procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that service center floor, worktop, wall hoists, tire changing equipment and wheel balancing equipment are neat and clean at all times. Includes ensuring that damaged or replaced tires, rims and other disposable mechanical parts are collected or removed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment and tools and maintaining them in proper working order as per operating procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Two (2) or more years maintenance/mechanic experience
  • Two(2) or more years experience in the automotive industry would be an asset.
  • High school diploma required
  • Must have a valid Drivers License
  • Must be detail-oriented, reliable, with a professional attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and works well with others
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • The ability to work independently and with a team in a fast paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
