What is the role?

As the Senior Inspection Engineer, you will be accountable for providing Inspection & Mechanical Engineering Technical Assurance in support of day-to-day operations for the Shell Trinidad and Tobago Assets. The successful candidate sits within the Upstream Engineering Team and will report to the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead and will work alongside peers in the Pipeline & Flow Assurance, Rotating and Civil / Structural Engineering Discipline.

Also, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Provide support for managing and assuring the safe, reliable, and sustainable integrity of all pressure equipment across the Asset

• Responsible for managing all pressure equipment and structural integrity, that is, ensuring fitness for purpose as well as all inspection and testing activities are carried out in accordance with statutory / regulatory, industry best practice and company’s standards whilst maintaining Shell’s reputation

• The Senior Inspection Engineer is the Asset RBI Focal Point and is responsible for the integrity and the health of the S-RBI Process and Program via the approved w-IMS systems

• Responsible for the management of inspection and monitoring activities via the Integrity Management System (IMS) including supporting the Plant Inspectors in configuring and loading inspection reports, reviewing findings, raising corrective (CAIR) and follow-on work orders, processing and conducting Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessment as required. This will also require compliance to the inspection and monitoring program, including resources required for timely execution.

• Manage anomalies, defect and temporary repair surveillance, management and close out via the Anomaly Registers, IMS, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Management of Change (MoC) process

• Responsible for contracted RBI Engineers, RBI Technicians, Plant Inspectors, and other inspection personnel under the remit of the Inspection Services Contracts

• Increase Asset Integrity/Inspection awareness, knowledge, and capability in the workforce

• Support implementation and continuous improvement of Asset Management System (AMS) standards and manuals as it relates to Manage Equipment Care (MEC)

• Engagement with the Sites to provide visible and felt engineering & operational support

• Contract Holder for all Inspection Engineering related contracts and managing the Inspection Service Provider in accordance with Contract Terms and Conditions

• Responsible for supporting the Contract Owner and Budget Holder in managing and controlling costs (and reporting)

• Support the Maintenance and Turnaround Team in defining inspection and monitoring activities inside the shutdown window

• Maintain the Inspection and Monitoring records system, which will include the handling of in-service inspection data and databases. Ensure that adequate data acquisition, analysis of new data, and comparison with historic measurements are completed to evaluate asset condition

• You will be responsible in interpreting information collected during inspection and monitoring activities to make complete, detailed, and timely recommendations for repairs, modifications, or replacement of equipment as necessary

• Analysis of inspection and monitoring data, determination of corrosion rates and remnant life (age-related degradation) and monitoring strategies (non-age-related degradation) as well as providing recommendations for future inspection, repair, replacement, or upgrades

• Provides input into the OPEX and CAPEX budget planning process as well as monthly VOWD and quarterly financial spend reporting

• Responsible for implementing alternative / advanced inspection methods or Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) methods and techniques to improve plant/equipment safety, integrity, reliability, and availability

• Specify, evaluate and/or adapt advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technologies for specific applications by conducting and/or co-coordinating appropriate validation trials

• Monitor Inspection Contractor performance against established expectations/requirements via Quarterly Performance Reviews (QPRs) and Business Performance Reviews (BPRs)

• Conduct Inspection Contractor Competency Assessments

Requirements

What we need from you

• Must have legal authorization to work in the Trinidad and Tobago on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

• You must have at least 8 (eight) years of working experience in Oil and Gas industry experience particularly around Asset Integrity and Inspection Management

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any field related from accredited university is required

• As a successful candidate, you shall have:

  • API510 Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification

  • API570 Piping Inspector Certification

  • NACE Coating Inspector Program Level 1 (will be beneficial)

  • RBI experience and certification (certification will be beneficial)

• Demonstrate working independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision and ability to mentor/coach SGP and SATP MMI-discipline engineers

• Communicate effectively with Stakeholders, inclusive of; Upstream Asset Management, the wider STTL Teams, all level of employees and external parties

• Identify and implement effective courses of action to complete work and ensure achievement of departmental goals

• Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines

• Manage projects and processes effectively

• Must also be an excellent team player, be able to mentor, coach and inspire less experienced team members in own sphere of competencies and integrated areas

• Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours as appropriate

• 20% Onshore and Offshore travel required
