Manager Service Planning, Scheduling and Research

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following CONTRACT position Manager Service Planning, Scheduling and Research 



This incumbent reports to the Deputy General Manager- Operations. The position manages the planning and schedule delivery, organization and analysis of scheduled services. The incumbent also coordinates planning and scheduling research, facilitates strategic development in line with changing demographics and geographical developments and trends, collaborates with departments responsible for fleet, facilities, on-route services marketing and operations in developing and evaluating strategies and presenting recommendations. 


• Managing the service planning, scheduling and research objectives of the PTSC including the allocation of human and physical resources to achieve these objectives

• Facilitating the development and implementation of operational service delivery plans and policies for the effective delivery of services consistent with cooperate objectives

• Managing the evaluation and analysis of operational, physical, economic, social, social legal, political, cultural and environmental factors influencing the planning, development, allocation and delivery of resources and services

• Representing the PTSC at a senior level in discussion and consultation with internal and external stakeholders

• Developing and maintaining productive and effective networks and relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, in relation to strategic resources, service planning and development

• Developing and maintaining networks relationships with external transportation agencies and providers of technological solutions

• Providing strategic policy advice to the PTSC senior management and other key stakeholders

• Participating in strategic planning and business development process

• Coordinating the development and maintenance of systems and processes to streamline and improve planning, operations, service delivery and allocation of service and resource

• Developing policies and strategies on issues associated with the planning and delivery of services and management of schedules

• To monitor unusual occurrences, report follow-up procedures, and report monthly and year-to-date comparison

• Performs quality-assurance functions to accomplish coordination, monitoring and reporting of quality-assurance studies

• Reviews reports, quality control, and other testing reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance to requirements to ensure that quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements are met

• Keeps the DGM(0) informed of studies in process and progress thereof, discusses problems ad completion of audit procedures

• Maintains current and accurate records of all relevant communications, audits, corrective action plans, and effectiveness monitoring 


• A degree in Transportation Management, Logistics Management, Project Management, Civil Engineering or related fields.

• A minimum of 3 years' leadership experience in a Planning or Management position

• Advance Computer Skills.

• Intimate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programmes

• Working Knowledge of any CAD (Computer Aided Design) programme such as Abode Photoshop Any comparable combination of training will be considered
