Manager, Examinations

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The Examinations Manager is responsible for oversight of the examinations and assessment processes for the University. He/she will be accountable for the day to day running of the examinations Unit and the application of the relevant assessment and examination processes. The Manager will work with relevant academics, administrators and external parties.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assumes a key role in formulating, reviewing, implementing and monitoring Assessment/Examinations policies and procedures.
  • Assists in developing the annual budget for the Examinations Unit and monitors expenditure to ensure spending within approved allocations.
  • Ensures the preparation of Final Assessment/Examination schedules, in accordance with the Academic Calendar.
  • Issues requests to Programme Professors/Leaders for submission of final assessment/examination question/papers/alternate question papers to the Examination Unit.
  • Supervises the process for the assignment and preparation of Examination rooms/laboratories across campuses.
  • Provides guidelines to Academic staff on Final Assessment/Examinations procedures with a view to ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Ensures all necessary staff resources and other requirements, including stationery etc, are in place for Final Assessments/Examinations.
  • Responsible for the training of invigilators and all other personnel assigned to the administration of University examinations and assessments.
  • Develops procedures to safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of Final Assessments/Examinations.
  • Conducts audits to ensure compliance with the approved procedures for the production, packaging, delivery and secure storage of Final Assessment/Examinations question papers.
  • Attends Assessment Committee Meetings on behalf of the VP, RASA.
  • Receives original approved grade sheets and minutes of Assessment Committees.
  • Facilitates the verification of the accuracy of grades uploaded into the SIS (Student Information System).
  • Undertakes special assignments and perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Master’s Degree an asset)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience inclusive of six (6) years senior supervisory experience
