General Manager - Corporate and Investment Banking Unit


The incumbent will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, growth, profitability and operational performance of the Corporate and Investment Banking line of business in accordance with the established risk management framework, sound corporate governance, and ensuring compliance with the respective regulations, legislation, policies and guidelines.



  • Implements and administers the general policies established by the Group Executive
  • Reports to and advises the Group Executive on the operational performance of the business and progress on strategic initiatives
  • Leads the development of the CIBU’s strategic agenda, vision and medium-term business plans
  • Coordinates the development of the operational budgets and is responsible for the control of expenditure and the efficient use of resources
  • Implements and executes the strategic and operational plans for the Unit
  • Leads, develops and coaches direct reports and senior professionals in all operations of the business
  • Manages and monitors the operational, market and credit risk exposures of the business
  • Manages stakeholder relationships, including relationships with regulators, governments, key clients and industry associations and peers
  • Provides support to the Group CEO in the execution of strategic initiatives, business development activities, management of stakeholder relations and in any other area that may be assigned
  • Defines and develops the Unit’s business development strategy in order to achieve the performance objectives
  • Responsible for the growth, credit quality and profitability of the Corporate Banking Loans and Deposits portfolio in accordance with the Bank’s risk management framework
  • Collaborates with other business units to facilitate cross selling of the Bank’s products and services  and to deliver comprehensive customer solutions
  • Performs all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by the Board of Directors and Executive Management relative to the function 



  • Candidates must possess a Post Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline from a reputable University or other professional qualification e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA from a recognized professional body and a minimum of fifteen (15) years' relevant experience at least ten (10) years Corporate and Investment Banking experience at a Senior Management Level OR
  • A First Degree and a minimum of fifteen (15) years' Corporate and Investment Banking experience at a Senior Management Level with a successful track record of performance
  • Certificates in Finance, Accounting and/or Business Administration will be considered assets



  • Knowledge of corporate planning and development skills 
  • Knowledge in investment management including: understanding of asset structures, analytical techniques, principles and practices of portfolio management, regulatory environment, Pension and Mutual Fund legislation
  • Working knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements both locally and regionally
  • Strong Leadership and Managerial skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Professional deportment and ability to interact at all levels
