The Financial Reporting Analyst will be directly responsible for managing the preparation of our quarterly and annual Sagicor Financial Corporation (SFC) reporting packages, budget reports, board reports, risk templates and adhoc executive reports. In addition, the Financial Reporting Analyst will also be involved in the implementation of all IFRS and assessing the impact on the company’s operations.

In this position you will:

  • Prepare the Quarterly and Annual Sagicor Financial Corporation Reporting Packages and manage the internal and external review for these documents
  • Prepare quarterly Board of Director Finance Reporting Packages
  • Create and maintain calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for the following processes: reporting packages, financial close, BOD packages
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual operating budget
  • Assist in the preparation of the Quarterly Risk Templates
  • Prepare the annual audited financial statements and annual reports
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide IFRS interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner
  • Assist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditors
  • Implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements
  • Perform continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period
  • Support month end and year end closing
  • Participate in other finance projects as required

The role may involve the direct supervision of a Financial Reporting Analyst. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education and/or Experience                                            

  • Bachelor's degree or higher degree in Accounting
  • Qualified Accountant or final level of qualifications with at least 4 years of experience with a Big 4 accounting firm, with exposure to the financial services industry and financial reporting
  • An excellent knowledge of IFRS and regulations is required combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
  • Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel


Language Skills                                           

Ability to prepare presentations, write reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups including executive management team or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills                                       

Ability to use mathematical skills in critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.  Ability to carry out quantitative reasoning and manipulate data and present that data in a logical manner.


Reasoning Ability                                          

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills                                   

To perform this job successfully, the individual should have knowledge of Internet software; competent in the use of Spreadsheet software and applications; Word Processing software and Accounting Software being used and Presentation tools such as Powerpoint.
