What’s the purpose
The Finance Advisor will serve as the face of Finance for opportunities or challenges prioritized based on value and risk. They are responsible for the delivery of Finance capability required to support a set of clearly defined business outcomes across multiple activities/assets.? Importantly, the Finance Advisor ensures decision makers in the Asset are equipped to understand how their decisions impact cash, cost, and value generation.
Impact
The Finance Advisor will be assigned a variety of activities/opportunities as part of the Pool based on Value/Risk. This includes control frameworks concerns, performance management, project and exploration support, commercial arrangements, contracts, wells support, cost recovery, Governance Risk & Assurance, etc.
As a Finance Advisor, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Support value management in the asset, ensuring priorities and deliverables are linked to value and cash generation
Support Senior Finance Advisor and/or Finance Manager with Commercial support to deals and ensure value optimization and alignment between technical and financial aspects of negotiations and agreements
Support the Senior Finance Advisor and/or Finance Manager to provide value insight to strategy reviews, Business Planning processes, project gates, and formal approvals of Group Investment Proposals
Performance management: support financial and operational performance appraisal for the asset, focusing on cost and cash as well as operational drivers such as production improvements and deferments. Drive both performance transparency and support selection of interventions
Understand the Risk Management Process and work with the business to identify and mitigate long and short-term risks and opportunities (TECOP)
Deliver the full suite of Finance support (including tax, treasury, accounting, and structuring) autonomously and coordinate the involvement of Centre of Expertise teams (CoEs), such as Treasury, Tax, and M&A, above pre-agreed thresholds?
Participate and deliver CI projects with focus on bottom line impact for the Asset
Collaborate with other parts of Finance and other functions to ensure integration, delivery and aligned prioritization of asset initiatives
Actively look for opportunities to reduce non-value adding Finance activity (“demand management”)?
Maximize use of Finance Operations in delivery of processes ?
Works on various opportunities across multiple activities/assets and are not dedicated to a specific activity, asset, or business partner. The work they perform will change over time and be prioritized based on value and risk, and professional development.
On specific projects/transactions work with business stakeholders to work as the voice of Finance to deliver as “One Finance” with the Centre of Expertise teams (Treasury, Tax, M&A) and Finance Operations
Acts across organizational boundaries as required in the specific activity
Requirements
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the Port of Spain on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Candidate must have minimum 5 to 8 (five to eight) years working experience any relevant role
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or in any equivalent field is preferred. However, candidates with degrees in other fields such as engineering or economics with commercial experience and/ or accounting/ financial accreditation (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CMA, etc) will be considered.
Strong commercial acumen and business partnering focus
Strong collaboration and enterprise first behaviors
Knowledgeable in Financial Planning and performance appraisal
Effective business partnering and working relationship with other teams
Strong knowledge across the spectrum of Finance competences
Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk
Maturity and authority to decide when to involve CoEs and effectively play the independent Finance role
Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table
Project management skills and flexibility given the support across multiple activities/assets
Ability to rapidly understand the specific business or function context for which activities in the pool concept are linked to
