Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university, which should be in Petroleum Geoscience/Geology, Geophysics or a closely related field with a focus on Petroleum Geology.

Candidates should also possess:

• A minimum of two (2) years’ teaching experience at the undergraduate level
• Research experience in the area of expertise
• Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate student projects
• Industry experience
• Leadership experience in conducting field trips and internship placement
• Proficiency in Petroleum Geology

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

• Qualification and proficiency in Structural Geology
• Qualification and proficiency in Geology of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean
• Teaching experience at the postgraduate level

Special Responsibilities

• Coordinating the work of the Petroleum Geoscience programme, its full-time and part-time lecturers and students and raising funding to sustain the programme
• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Petroleum Geoscience
• Supervising BSc and postgraduate (MSc, MPhil and PhD) student projects
• Developing self-financing programmes and professional short courses to respond to the changes within the industry, specifically focusing on local and regional needs
• Providing ongoing revision of the curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation in the area of expertise
• Developing and coordinating research programmes of national interest capable of attracting external funding
• Engaging with local, regional and international stakeholders, other departments and academic institutions and faculty through collaborative research, teaching and training services
• Serving on Committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels
• Mentoring students and staff
• Attracting funding for industry funded programmes
