Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university, which should be in Petroleum Geoscience/Geology, Geophysics or a closely related field with a focus on Petroleum Geology.
Candidates should also possess:
- A minimum of two (2) years’ teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- Research experience in the area of expertise
- Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate student projects
- Industry experience
- Leadership experience in conducting field trips and internship placement
- Proficiency in Petroleum Geology
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Qualification and proficiency in Structural Geology
- Qualification and proficiency in Geology of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean
- Teaching experience at the postgraduate level
Special Responsibilities
- Coordinating the work of the Petroleum Geoscience programme, its full-time and part-time lecturers and students and raising funding to sustain the programme
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Petroleum Geoscience
- Supervising BSc and postgraduate (MSc, MPhil and PhD) student projects
- Developing self-financing programmes and professional short courses to respond to the changes within the industry, specifically focusing on local and regional needs
- Providing ongoing revision of the curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation in the area of expertise
- Developing and coordinating research programmes of national interest capable of attracting external funding
- Engaging with local, regional and international stakeholders, other departments and academic institutions and faculty through collaborative research, teaching and training services
- Serving on Committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels
- Mentoring students and staff
- Attracting funding for industry funded programmes

The appointment is for a fixed term of two years in the first instance.
