Category Sales Development Mgr. - Channel Sales

Position Summary

As the Category Sales Development Manager you will lead the channel sales development agenda to deliver growth for the channel(s) as assigned. The key responsibility of this role is to accelerate shelf off-take at the customer level through, customer plans,  improved in store visibility and  on-time execution of the aligned category/ brand activation sales plan, based on the consumer and channel marketing strategy. Based on the business priorities, this role will be responsible for prioritization, alignment and execution of the above-mentioned activities and plans. It is expected that this role would work closely with the Business Development Managers/ Distributor Business Managers to ensure strong plans and to ensure best in class execution of all sell-out related and brand-visibility initiatives within the assigned channel. Must also leverage on cross-functional efficiencies and expertise to develop a strong learning log and evaluation log (Pre & Post) of key investments on sell-out activities within the assigned channel.

 

A day in the life of...

  • Clearly segment the assigned category(s) based on Consumer and Shopper needs and understanding. Identify, align and prioritize category opportunities at the trade level and shopper touchpoints. Develop a clear Category vision (i.e. merchandising strategy to maximise profitability, look of success, etc.) based on identified growth opportunities and leverage this vision to develop Commercial/Customer plans to drive business performance. Work closely with Business Development Managers and Distributor Business Managers to develop a compelling customer-facing Category strategy, to leverage strong Joint Business Planning negotiations (and Category Management, Space Allocations in-store, etc.), based on sound category data and trends.
  • Propose the in-store look of success for the key categories (as prioritized with the BEOs & Sales Manager) within the assigned channel. Ensure the  implementation and continuous review the effectiveness of the in-store/ channel category/ brand activations and merchandising executions at the store level/ shopper touchpoints. 
    Support to ensure 100% in-store "on-shelf" availability, working closely with the field sales and merchandising teams to maximize sell-out opportunities and merchandising excellence. 
    Recommend actionable in-store solutions within the assigned channel, based on a clear understanding of shopper behaviour related to the key categories within the assigned channel.
  • Lead the development and presentation of Customer Plans (JBP process) to key Customers within the assigned channel, leveraging the support of the Business Units, BDMS & DBMs as needed.
  • Working closely with the Business Units, BDMS and DBMs to align and refine Brand/ Category Activation plans, and ensure the flawless execution of channel plans and branded activations to support sell-out at Shopper touch points.
  • Actively contribute to the Monthly Business Planning and ICP processes. MSR - present Channel category plans to be executed for M-1 and the aligned sales volumes to be committed for the Channel, working closely on the M-3 plan/outlook in collaboration with Sales Channel Managers and Category Sales Development Managers. Active participation in the Consensus Demand Planning meeting by identifying & quantifying the key opportunities and possible action plans for the Channel/ Categories.
  • Recommend clear promotional guidelines based on shopper understanding and Channel (market) knowledge. Ensure all promotional investment is properly reviewed and evaluated for the assigned channel, in close collaboration with the CCSDs, BDMS and DBMs as needed.

 

What will make you successful

  • First Degree: BSc. in Social Sciences
  • 4+ years commercial experience, Previous experience in Sales and Marketing - Demonstrable record of success in a customer facing role. Understands customers and the selling process. - Understands key business functions -
