Assistant Manager – OHSE

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should possess a BSc. in Occupational Health, Safety and the Environment OR a related Science/Engineering degree


Candidates should also:

  • Have eight (8) years’ experience in OHSE Supervisory roles
  • Be a certified ISO 45001 and 14001 implementer
  • Have working knowledge of International Fire Code/NFPA standards
  • Have certification and experience in ICS


Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • Evidence of being an experienced technical professional in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental field
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) OR Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) qualifications  
  • Certifications related to International Fire Code/NFPA standards


ISO 45001 and 14001 Lead Auditor capabilities would be considered assets.


Special Responsibilities

  • Assisting the OHSE Manager with the management and administration of the OHSE Unit
  • Developing policies and procedures for the OHSE management system
  • Establishing and coaching Committees to raise OHSE awareness and compliance amongst the Campus community
  • Trending and preparing reports based on performance metrics to develop strategies to drive performance improvements
  • Developing an OHSE self-audit system and periodically conducting OHSE inspections & audits to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and/or procedures
  • Conducting risk/exposure assessments to develop and implement risk mitigation plans
  • Assisting with development and implementation of an industrial hygiene monitoring programme
  • Assisting in implementing a contractor induction programme to reduce risk associated with contract work
  • Any other related duties assigned by the OHSE Manager

  • Have Contractor Management skills
  • Have Accident Investigation skills
  • Be able to function in fast-paced environments
  • Have strong project management skills
  • Have excellent report writing capabilities
  • Have strong analytical skills


The appointment is for a fixed term of one year in the first instance.
