This leadership role focuses on meeting the SME unit objectives by lending and developing a team of Sales, Client Services Representatives and Underwriters to support client retention, acquisition and growth. This role is responsible for leading and promoting the Sagicor brand in business communities and working closely with industry business leaders. It will also collaborate closely with the responsible Leads to successfully bank new SME loan clients at acceptable credit risk in line with Sagicor’s risk appetite.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensures execution against the client value proposition and experience defined for each client segment, monitors performance and defines and executes appropriate corrective actions as required.
  • Takes ownership of the Client Complaints and Problem Resolution Process; engaging appropriate partners when necessary to resolve problems.
  • Proactively develop, maintain and strengthen relationships with Cross Enterprise business partners with a view to providing solutions that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Champions the implementation of the SME Unit’s strategic initiatives in the market, to execute change, supporting employees through proactive communication and effective decision-making reinforcing organizational values, objectives, strategies and implementation plans.
  • Engages in continuous learning to build your skills and capabilities of others. Ensures skills, knowledge and accreditations of self and team are up to date and meet position requirements and local market/industry needs. For new to role employees ensure effective completion of on boarding plans.
  • Leads the Performance Management Process through regular mandate and goals reviews, providing feedback on their performance relative to mandate. Review results and performance trends to recognize and celebrate successes. Addressing poor performance as needed.
  • Represents your market in determining the required sales capacity and participate in sales planning activities.
  • Coaches SME Team Leads in the execution of sales and services routines towards achievement of goals and objectives. Seeks feedback from your team as to how you can continue to add more value in your routines.
  • Ensure all team members understand Risk policy and Guidelines outlined in the Relevant Credit Policies and ensures strict adherence to same.
  • Establishes routines and takes appropriate action on items outlined by the Vice President. Together with the Risk Management, provide expert advice to BBs to help them resolve complex issues related to ongoing portfolio management.

 

 

Academic Qualifications/Specialized Skills/Competencies:

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or equivalent qualifications, from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent qualifications, from a recognized tertiary institution, preferred but not required
  • Sound knowledge of credit risk fundamentals and assessments
  • Total experience of 5 years managing small business relationships
  • Knowledge of the Sagicor’s Business Banking products and services.
  • Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs through a broad range of products and services.
  • Proven analytical ability, with experience of credit or relationship management within the Commercial sector.
  • Proven level of business acumen and commercial awareness including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues.
  • Broad knowledge of Sagicor’s Group capabilities and Commercial Banking’s proposition and product capabilities.
  • Good understanding of the local and international ‘Commercial’ environment, with a passion for understanding a broad range of industries and businesses and a determination to keep this knowledge updated.
  • Proven ability to innovate and deliver creative and flexible customer solutions.
  • Ability to differentiate from the competition through the delivery of a responsive and proactive relationship management service and to engage with clients at both a strategic and transactional level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis upon inspiring, influencing and negotiating in dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize, with tenacity to drive through results.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative with a flair for solving problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations
