Ross University School of Medicine, located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados in the West Indies, invites applications for Clinical Teaching Instructors in the Clinical Foundations department of the Medical Sciences program.
All Clinical Teaching Instructors hired for Clinical Foundations positions are expected to be in Barbados and available to start orientation and training on Monday, April 29th, 2019 . You must be an RUSM graduate in order to apply.
Clinical Teaching Instructors are junior faculty members and education is the primary focus of RUSM faculty. The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester. Lectures and other educational responsibilities continue throughout the year. Effective teachers are sought, particularly individuals who are interested in improving medical education and who work well on a team. Research opportunities exist, primarily in the area of medical education.
We are currently seeking applicants to start on April 29, 2019 and continue through April, 2020. Applicants will be Clinical Teaching Instructors in the Clinical Foundations department and will be required to facilitate small group learning sessions designed to teach physical examination skills, medical interviewing skills, and case-based clinical reasoning. High fidelity medical simulation is used to teach students to apply clinical reasoning and a methodical approach to patients with time sensitive needs. Teaching Instructors are also assigned extended hours duties during pre-examination periods in order to coach students in skills practice sessions and are expected to proctor practical examinations within the clinical skills courses. Grading of patient encounter documentation is also expected as is performance of other duties, projects and tasks as requested by the department Chair. Opportunities exist to assist with curriculum development, medical education research projects and scholarly writing for publication. Teaching Instructors report to the Clinical Foundations Chair and are directly supervised by the Vice Chair.
Must have the M.D. degree from Ross University School of Medicine GPA must be above 3.0 or candidate must submit a letter of reference.
You must have received graduation clearance from the Office of the Registrar.
Applicants must have completely finished clinical rotations and electives and have passed USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS.
A final diploma will be provided to the Clinical Foundations Chair verifying you have met all graduation requirements.
Candidates will be selected based on their record of academic achievement and at least one phone interview with the Department Chair and Vice Chair.
