Reporting to the Unit Leader, GK General Insurance Limited the incumbent will be expected to: 

 

  • Review and process claims in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines and requirements and update the underwriting system accordingly.
  • Create a registry for all Accident Forms received.
  • Gather facts and evidence with all interested parties and ensure relevant reports are completed and determine if an investigation is required contacting clients and or brokers or agents.
  • Appoint and work with loss adjusters/assessors, investigators and other external service providers as necessary to ensure the claims can be settled appropriately.
  • Evaluate the settlements alternative exercising sound judgement reviewing regulatory compliance, claims practices and policy coverage. Make decisions on denial of coverage, liability or compensability.
  • Prepare and discuss settlement offers upon receipt of approval from Unit Leader and submission of relevant reports with the appropriate party ensuring file notes are outlined detailing basis for settlement and claims activities.
  • Ensure the underwriting system is updated with the following details from the Assessor’s Report, Parts Quotation and Investigator’s Report:
    • Reference Number
    • Service Action
    • Date of Report
    • Figures where applicable
  • Execute follow-ups, letters and notes in the underwriting system to maintain accurate and updated claims files for clients.
  • Evaluate claims and adjust claims reserve within limit of authority and where in excess of authority submit for approval.
  • Examine claims for subrogation, recovery or potential fraud and escalate to the relevant claims team for handling.
  • Respond to telephone and written correspondence from claimants, attorneys, physicians, clients and other related parties.
  • Advise the Personal Lines Team and Unit Leader once a total loss settlement is triggered and set follow-up to ensure the file for the risk is removed from an active status Prepare payment requisitions upon acceptance of settlement offer and ensure disbursement within agreed timelines.
  • Updates and garner accurate information related to salvaged motor vehicles that will be retained by the company and creates follow-ups with the Recovery Team responsible for disposal.
  • Assign registry with approved settlement release to the appropriate Claims Associate, Transaction on the same day of signing for effective and timely processing.
  • Assist with the collection of certificates of insurance or declaration requested when processing total loss.
  • Assist with the collection of original motor vehicle documents from client and or broker/agent once the insured’s salvage will be retained by the company.
  • Develop effective customer relationships through networking, delivering on customer commitments and providing the customer with key information critical for the customer’s business.
  • Performs other duties and activities that may be assigned from time to time.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Pursuing a First Degree in Business Management or a related field
  • Diploma in Insurance
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a general insurance environment
