Purpose of the Role:
 
The Senior Manager, Corporate Credit Risk assess corporate credit advances including any grouped personal advances to key individuals. Monitors / manages adherence to Bank credit risk policy, guidelines and procedures for corporate, capital markets, Bank and sovereign sectors. As required, visits corporate business teams throughout the region to assess quality of portfolios, provide coaching and training, etc. Provides support, guidance and advice to front line Corporate Managers on specific proposals, lending situations and any credit risk  matters.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Sanctions applications within graded lending matrix up to a maximum of US$5 million (on credit either directly assigned or referred to by Credit Risk Analysts.
  • Provides recommendations on credits that exceed US$5 million to the Director, Corporate Credit Risk and/or to the Chief Risk Officer and/or the Credit Committee.
  • Assists in the meeting of asset quality targets for corporate lending portfolio via ensuring adherence to Bank credit risk policy, guidelines &procedures including credit decision support tools, e.g. ICA, ICAP, credit scoring, etc.
  • Delivers thoroughly analysed high quality risk decisions within the Service Level Agreement.
  • Proactively manages / monitors credits exhibiting unsatisfactory trends - recommending / invoking appropriate course of action / referral to Receivables Management team.
  • Identifies and elevates to the Director, Corporate Credit Risk and / or the Chief Risk Officer any situations of non-compliance with lending authorities, credit risk policy,  guidelines and procedures or any other perceived lending improprieties.
  • As required, visits corporate business teams throughout the region. Providing support and guidance to front line Corporate Managers on proposals and any credit matters.
  • Liaises with fellow CRMD corporate team members to share information on credit matters.
  • Facilitates, as required, the successful execution / implementation of all risk related strategic projects / or initiatives ensuring a coherent, comprehensive approach to the management of changes in order to minimise duplication of efforts and maximise the effectiveness of solutions. 
  • Facilitates, as directed, the implementation of Board level strategic Risk Management objectives with aggressive timelines that are geared towards process refinement and improvement or that bring about reengineering benefits. Projects include iCAP and Middle Office and others identified under the Corp Credit Enhancement Project and any other projects or initiatives.  Manages the strategic implementation processes in Risk, providing oversight for several initiatives.
  • Supports deficiency management - facilitates the remediation, downgrade and closure of deficiencies relating to credit policy and procedures and dealing with policy and procedural systems.
 
Critical Knowledge & Skills Required:
  • Professional qualification - ACIB or equivalent
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Full competency in all aspects of credit analysis and thorough knowledge of Bank credit risk policy, guidelines & procedures including regulatory body requirements
  • Thorough hands on knowledge of use and function of all corporate credit decision support tools
  • In depth knowledge of corporate structures and security considerations
  • Complete knowledge of corporate market credit and counter party transaction risks
  • Detailed knowledge of all corporate credit products
  • Knowledge of economic and political environments and the financial services industry in all markets served

Experience Required:
  • At least 4 years’ banking experience.
  • Prior experience as a front line commercial lender.
  • Previous experience working within a structured team environment.
  • Prior credit structuring and negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrate and engender high standards of professionalism and excellence.
