Sales is essential to the progress and success of any firm. This signifies reaching new clients by presenting, describing, demonstrating and/or explaining the necessity of a product. The most business frequently flaunts with big sales or special services towards clients. There are many manners to advance sales. Direct Sales is one of the best used methods in businesses, such as, greengrocers, movie houses or clothing stores. Nowadays there are new technologies to amplify sales, namely: through internet, e-mail and telephone. The responsibilities of representatives have therefore shifted to other areas. The link between sales-marketing and sales-product/web page design has grown tighter. Despite the cyber evolution, sales in most cases remains a person to person profession and sales agents continuously find themselves travelling in and out of the country. In such cases the employer enjoy many lucrative benefits such as, a company car, clothing allowance and admission to renowned restaurants.

Sales functions are performance related, meaning, when goals are met, the payment is augmented with bonuses or commissions which previously have been accorded. This also implies that these occupations are very demanding. Sales agents must prove highly competent; work hard, develop and maintain relationships with customers and keep them contented and buying.

Sales is often categorized as an occupation where to be successful, you must be dishonest. This is a misconception. To be successful in Sales you must possess the proper argumentative skills, alongside optimal knowledge of the product, market competitors and new market trends. When you close a deal with a large firm, you score big, but there is also another side to the medal: you will not always close the deal. Luckily, most agents love a challenge and can cope with occasional rejection.
